KAFD is a leader in the fields of sustainability, smart city application and architectural excellence. We are proud of our achievements and have been internationally recognized by leading institutes for our progress within these fields.
LEED provides a framework for healthy, efficient, carbon and cost-saving green buildings and is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement. KAFD is the only LEED platinum certified Neighborhood Development in the world, as recognized by the U.S Green Building Council (USGBC). KAFD's sustainability footprint across the destination extends to over 15 certifications, across platinum, gold, silver status, with this number growing.
KAFD's headquarters is the first building in KSA to achieve Smart Score Platinum certification, the globally recognized, ESG-aligned certification for smart buildings. Smart Score certification, from the certification body Wired Score, identifies best-in-class smart buildings that deliver an exceptional user experience, drive cost efficiency, meet high sustainability standards and are fully future-ready.
KAFD's iconic skyline has been designed by more than 25 world-leading design & architectural firms. We are proud to have won several awards in this field, including the Good Design Award whereby a selected jury chose KAFD mosque due to the engineering innovation in its column-free design and its desert flower-inspired shape. Omrania's architectural design for the KAFD Grand Mosque also won the International Architecture Prize, in the Religious Buildings category, for the Year 2020, as well as the 2017 World Architecture Festival awards.
